A project I created a while ago, but still one of my favorites. I took a traditional approach in this packaging. From using authentic Japanese tattoo Sumi ink, to burning kanji symbols on the outside of the packaging, making it official. I love Japanese culture and I wanted to establish something meaningful.
I created a limited edition packaging with additional elements to complement the bottle. By creating this type packaging, it would create value, not only to the product, but to the end user.
In ancient times, Japanese people really valued their craftsmanship. They created everything with such a beautiful form and flawless skill. I wanted to emulate some of those ideas in my work by making everything custom and handmade. I believe it takes part of the artist's soul. This was what ancient Japanese people established hundreds of years ago. From their Edo period of fierce Samurai warriors and woodblock printing to their incredible modern approach in design and technology today. These are important values that I really admire.
The Geisha Sake bottle shows the beautiful shape of a Japanese woman in an ancient time when everything about the Geisha was admired and worshiped. Everything they did had to be perfect. From the way they walked, to the way they poured sake in a cup. I wanted the end user to experience a traditional Japanese scene, with not only having a bottle to represent a Geisha, but creating a mood using the other Japanese elements of the packaging.
